INNOVATION

Innovation drives us to make tomorrow a better day than today.

Reduced incidents, improved productivity, more efficiency, lower cost, less bureaucracy and better systems are all ‘fair game’ in our quest for innovation.

As a company we know we must be agile and innovative.  To remain a leader in our industry, we must challenge how things are done on a daily basis, and be bold enough to enable change when needed.

We do not undertake change lightly as we know it must be managed.  Any new process, improvement or upgrade must be scoped, and have its impact risk assessed, then quantified before implementation.

Some recent FORACO innovations include:

Remote Controlled Drill Rigs

FORACO pioneered the deployment of the first wireless remote controlled RC rig with full Measurement While Drilling (MWD) in the Pilbara in late 2015. We now have 9 x remote controlled drill rigs (36% of total fleet) covering Diamond, RC and Hydro operations.

Measurement While Drilling

MWD takes the guess work out of drilling.  Rather than watch hydraulic gauges ‘flicker’ around, MWD provides the Driller with accurate, instantaneous feedback in real values.

Large Diameter Flooded Reverse (LDFR)

FORACO has developed industry leading, high capacity wireless remote controlled hydro rigs for LDFR Drilling. These incorporate remote controlled Safe T Load piper trailers and modular mud systems.

Other FORACO innovations include:

  • Climate controlled dog house for remote diamond  and hydro drilling operations with integrated mud mixing/storage platform and LED lighting array (for night shift operations)
  • Purpose built rod handling systems for large diameter coring (6″ wireline and 8″ conventional), and the ability to pull 9m rod lengths when diamond drilling
  • Mechanized rod handling and breakouts across all drilling operations including diamond, RC and Hydro

Innovation is part of our DNA. We must always ask – is there a better way?
